New Executive Chef for Bushmans Kloof

Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Wellness Retreat, a Relais & Châteaux property in the Cederberg, takes great pleasure in welcoming new Executive Chef, Charles Hayward. Hayward has nearly 20 years’ experience working in hospitality at several high-profile hotels and restaurants in South Africa, Dubai and England.

No stranger to the high standards of service synonymous with the Red Carnation Hotels collection, Charles says, “I am thrilled to be part of the Bushmans Kloof team and look forward to working together to continue bringing impeccable service and a sensational gourmet experience to our guests.”

After starting his career as a Junior Chef at The Regent Hotel in East London, Charles trained at the Warwick’s Chef School in Hermanus. He left South Africa shortly thereafter, to work in London where he worked at two prominent Red Carnation Hotels, The Rubens at the Palace and “41” Boutique Hotel; he also worked at Canary Wharf’s renowned Plateau Restaurant (part of the global Conran Restaurants group).

On his return to South Africa Charles worked as the Executive Chef at La Residence in Franschoek and opened the Henry White’s Restaurant at Fancourt in George. Charles was most recently working at the Bosman’s Restaurant at the Grande Roche Hotel in Paarl.
